the fair

We took the kid to the county fair last week. I was going to blow it off this year but somehow the kids heard about it so of course we took them. They really do like the fair. The weather was decent for July and there was a nice breeze so it wasn't too bad.
Collin and grandma enjoying lunch.
This mama pig was only 10 months old. She had 12 piglets. It makes me sad to think she is so young and they are already breeding her! That pink little piglet filled his belly then passed out sound asleep. So cute.

These two calfs were just adorable. They snuggled together and would press their little heads together. So sweet.

Casey didn't read the sign right under her, the one that says do not pick up chicks. I informed her of the sign and the chick was replaced unharmed. I love the look on the little girls face next to her, she looks appalled that Casey was breaking the rule. Thanks to Pat for giving Casey the boost.

kicking back

Cameron kicking back at the park. Lately, life has been moving at the speed of light, yet in the next moment it seems to move in slow motion. I can't seem to get my balance, lately. It is moments like kicking back at the park with my family, sitting around talking, joking and playing, that puts it all back into perspective, that brings me back to what is important, that keeps me moving forward.

birthday

We celebrated another birthday on July 4Th, my mom's. I won't tell her age, the kids think older, others think young. It is all a matter of perspective I guess.

We went out to eat last week to have an early celebration. Birthdays are good for the soul.

Cortney and Casey talking together. I love moments like this, they are 8 years apart, yet still close sisters.

Collin and his dad having some good convo too. It was a good day.

beach day with pictures

What a beautiful day for the beach! Yesterday we packed up and met our friends at what we call the little beach. A cove with a park and no waves. It is good for the smaller kids, there are no waves to knock them down. It is good for me too, it is easier to watch the kids and I have grass to sit on and shade trees to sit under.

Casey is a water baby, she loves the water. All my kids do, it's a good thing.

Some people thought it was a little chilly out, especially in the shade. Some people need more body fat...I'm just saying...

Cortney and her friend enjoying a snack and some sun.

Cody and his friend getting ready to go snorkeling.

Some of the boys swam across to the other side of the harbor to jump off the docks. Cameron went too! If you knew Cameron you would know this is not something he would typically do. Cameron likes to play things safe and has always been happy on the safe side playing in the water and the sand. Lately he has been stepping out of his comfort zone and trying these new things like, boogie boarding, skateboarding, riding his bike over ramps, skim boarding and some other tough guy things. He likes them. Not sure if I do. He is stepping out of my *Cameron* comfort zone too. But, what he attempts, he tries and tries until he gets it done. Of course I stand around and watch and encourage him with a knot in my stomach if it is something that could potentially hurt him. But I smile and don't let on, he is a boy exploring and expanding his boy world. It is a good thing.

The boys coming back across... I was really wishing Cameron had put on a life jacket before he went. But he did fine. It is so funny, I never worried about Cody like this when he was Cameron's age doing all the typical boy things. They are all just so different. I imagine my worries will get less and less an Cameron proves his abilities to do all these new things. I do really enjoy seeing a daring Cameron and he is gaining so much more self confidence.

Cortney waded in, she wasn't feeling that great but went with us anyway. The kids don't like to miss anything if they can help it.

Casey and Dexter hanging out at our camp.

After the water play it is time for playground play, snacking and kicking back. Collin enjoying the swings.

Casey enjoying a snack on a bench, people watching.
I haven't been a very good blogger lately. I have been hanging out on facebook too much and spending way too much time on my farm in farm town. I think, think, I might have a little addiction problem with my farm. But I don't want to give up my blog. I consider it our family journal and enjoy posting pictures and going back and looking at the archives from time to time. But, a lot of our activities keep me busy with no time to post too. There has to be a balance. I just need a few more hours in the day.

beach day

We took the kids to the beach today, the first time of the summer. It was a very, VERY good day! The weather was perfect and it wasn't too crowded so we just kicked back and relaxed.

The kids wanted to invite friends along but I decided I wanted it to just be family time. I am so glad I made that decision. The kids all played together and got along so well. I really couldn't have asked for a better day. I know there will lots more to come!

I don't have any pictures to share, I took my camera and sadly discovered I left the battery at home in the charger....argh!
